(This role can be based anywhere South or South West - Remote first role, with monthly attendance in Cardiff Office)
As a DevOps engineer, you will be involved in the following tasks:
- Deploy, manage, and operate scalable, highly available, and fault-tolerant systems on AWS.
- Pro-active communication of technical problems and issues.
- Implement and manage continuous delivery systems and methodologies on AWS.
- Define and deploy monitoring, metrics, and logging systems on AWS.
- Implement systems that are highly available, scalable, and self-healing on the AWS platform.
- Migrating workloads from on-premises to AWS, or from other public cloud platforms e.g. Azure
- Implement and automate security controls, governance processes and compliance validation.
- Design, develop and manage automation solutions.
As a DevOps engineer, you can expect to work with most, if not all of the following technologies:
- Terraform.
- Kubernetes.
- Docker.
- AWS EKS and ECS.
- Azure AKS.
- Git.
- Ansible.
- Elastic Stack.
- CI/CD tooling such as Jenkins and GitLab.
- AWS.
- Azure.
- Cloud networking concepts.
- Linux administration.
- Windows administration.
Qualifications/Experience required:
- At least 2 years’ experience building and maintaining AWS and or Azure infrastructure.
- Experience of deploying and managing AWS and or Azure infrastructure with Terraform.
- Experience developing cloud native CI/CD workflows and tools such as GitHub, GitLab and Jenkins.
- Solid foundation of networking concepts, DNS, load balancing and OS administration.
- Holds a current AWS associate level certification and or Azure administrator level certification.
- Strong verbal, written and customer facing communication skills.
Desirable skills/experience:
- Hands on experience of AWS native CI/CD tooling (CodeDeploy, CodePipeline).
- Experience of delivering in an Agile environment.
- Scripting skills e.g., Python, Powershell.
- Experience of automating manual tasks using Ansible in production environments.
- Hands on experience with microservices and distributed application architecture, such as containers, Kubernetes and/or serverless.
